Sarah Ferguson Admits To Having A Complex Over Princess Diana's Popularity

March 2, 2009

Britain's Sarah Ferguson over-ate because Princess Diana was so beautiful and popular. The Duchess of York - who is divorced from Prince Andrew - has revealed she started comfort eating because she was constantly unfavorably compared to the late princess.

Sarah - who was once dubbed the Duchess of Pork - says she will never be comfortable with her body and will be on a diet for the rest of her life.

The Weight Watchers spokeswoman said: "I was so unhappy I ate all the time, and then I was pilloried for being overweight, and on the cycle went. I didn't know how to break it."

"I can't control certain things about myself. My main problem has been comfort eating. I will spend my whole life worrying about my weight. Every day I live I am on a diet."

"It's like being an alcoholic. For ages you say you don't need help, and then eventually you get some, and then it becomes a way of life. Weight Watchers literally saved me."

Sarah - who has two daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie - believes she will never be able to forget the negative media coverage she endured during her marriage to Andrew.

She told Britain's The Sunday Telegraph newspaper: "It's pretty hard to change people's perceptions."

"I believed the horrible stories that were written about me were true."
