Sarah Ferguson, Duchess Of York, Grieves The Passing Of A Close Friend At His Funeral

January 22, 2009

Britain's Sarah Ferguson mourned a close friend Wednesday. The Duchess of York joined 100 grieving friends and relatives at St. Mary's Church in Coddenham, Suffolk, for the funeral of Sir Dai Llewellyn, who died last week at the age of 62.

The pair became friends before Sarah's marriage to Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth's son, and Dai stuck by her during her difficult times with the royal family, even defending her on television when she was criticized for donating only a small percentage of profits from her "Budgie The Little Helicopter" children's book.

After the funeral, Sarah cheered herself up by having dinner with her youngest daughter Princess Eugenie, 18.

The pair - sporting similar outfits - dined at swish London eatery Nobu with a small group of friends before taking the time to help a homeless man. They stopped to chat to the unnamed person, who was sitting under a blanket close to the trendy hotspot - where the cheapest main course is 28 pounds [$38] - before the duchess gave him her spare change.
