Sarah Jessica Parker Explains Mole-Gate

December 17, 2009

Sarah Jessica Parker has explained the reason behind her "mole-gate." The "Sex and the City" star explained to David Letterman on the "Late Show" why she opted to have her famous facial mole removed.

It was not revealed when she had it removed, but Parker was first spotted without her signature mole on her chin in July 2008 when she attended a baseball game in New York. Her publicist originally denied that the actress had undergone cosmetic surgery.

But during the 44-year-old star's appearance on Letterman's show on Monday, she admitted to having the mole removed by a plastic surgeon brother-in-law.

When asked why she did it, she replied, "I just didn't care for it. And I had six free days when I can get bloody and scabbed and no one would care. And honestly, I didn't think a thing about it. And then apparently, it turned into a mole-gate."

Parker said she had a momentary regret, saying, "A woman came up to me on the beach really upset and she said, 'I'm so sorry I didn't know why you did that. That was your signature.' I said, 'my mole was my signature? Isn't my brain my signature?'"

"And for about the next fifteen minutes I couldn't even hear anything anybody was saying to me because all I could think was 'I made a terrible mistake. 'Can you put it back on?'"
