Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn split

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) - After dating for just a few months, Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn have split.

According to People, a source told the magazine that the 26-year-old and 50-year-old recent divorcees called it quits recently.

Speculation began after Johansson didn't attend the Cannes Film Festival with Penn, where he was there to promote his award-winning "The Tree of Life."

The pair has previously been seen together on plenty of outings in Los Angeles, and even at the White House Correspondents Dinner Party in Washington D.C.

Neither Johansson nor Penn have yet to comment on the split, and neither have their reps.

Instead, Johansson is said to be busy working on the new superhero film "The Avengers" in New Mexico.

She'll reprise her role of Black Widow from "Iron Man 2."
