Shakira confirms new relationship with soccer star Gerard Pique

Barcelona, Spain (AHN Entertainment) - International superstar Shakira has confirmed her romantic relationship with professional soccer player Gerard Pique by announcing it to her followers on Twitter.

The 34-year-old Columbian singer also posted a picture of the smiling couple on Tuesday posing in front of an exotic location, with Pique holding her in his arms.

"I present to you my sun," the singer wrote in the message accompanying the photo.

Shakira and the 24-year-old Barcelona player's relationship sparked media attention recently when celebrity magazines published photos of the two holding hands and kissing in Spain.

The two reportedly met in 2010 in South Africa, while the singer performed at the FIFA World Cup. Pique represented the Spanish national team, which became champions that year.

In January, the "Hips Don't Lie" hitmaker also took her Twitter and website to announce the end of her 11-year relationship with Antonio de la Rua, the son of former Argentine president Fernando de la Rua.

Shakira revealed that the couple had been separated for months before her announcement, but said the couple viewed their separation "as temporary and as a time of individual growth as we continue to be partners in our business and professional lives."

But on the March covers of Spanish celebrity magazines Caras and TVyNovelas, Shakira, who is pictured locking lips with Pique, proves that she has moved on.
