Shakira To Talk Charity In Oxford Union

December 2, 2009

Colombian performer Shakira is set to enter Oxford and talk about her South American charity work. The "Hips Don't Lie" star is expected at the Oxford Union on December 7.

The pop star will be discussing her charity Barefoot Foundation at the event. Her record label RCA hopes that her talk would help publicize her charity, BBC said.

Barefoot is a U.S. non-profit organization devoted to ensuring that every child can exercise his or her basic right to quality education. Inspired by the success of her Colombian foundation, Pies Descalzos, Shakira founded the U.S. based organization in 2008.

The 32-year-old Grammy and Latin Grammy Award winner, is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
