Sheldon Stephen reacts to reports that he lied about his affair with Kevin Clash

Sheldon Stephen is upset that people did not believe him when he said he had sex with Kevin .com/celebs/clash'>Clash,the voice of Elmo when he was underage. Sheldon who is in his 20’s now says he is hurt that people jumped on conclusions before they knew the whole story.

Appearing on CBS’s ‘The Insider’, Sheldon said “The whole world reacted in such a negative way and they haven’t really gotten the chance to know who I am and to even ask me the right questions to figure out the kind of person I am”.

The struggling actor/model said “Rather, they reached off of hearsay and romour and speculation of the whole situation. The biggest misconception about me is that I’m a liar and, extortionist”.

Sheldon accused Kevin for having unlawful sex with him as he was just 16. Kevin however defended himself saying that their relationship was between two consenting adults. The case was later settled in an undisclosed agreement.

A second accuser filed a lawsuit against the Sesame Street puppeteer alleging that he was engaged in sexual behavour with him when he was 15 after they met in a gay chat line. The second accuser was asking for $5million for the psychological and emotional effects for Kevin’s sexual acts and conduct until 2012. Kevin is however divorced and is a father of a grown-up daughter.

Consequently, the 52-year old took temporary leave after the first accusation but resigned from Sesame Street after the second lawsuit. In a statement, he said “I am deeply sorry to be leaving and am looking forward to resolving these personal matters privately”.
