Snooki paid more to speak at Rutgers than Pulitzer Prize winner

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) - The stars of "Jersey Shore" get paid big bucks for their high-profile appearances. But Rutgers University is spending more on Snooki than they paid a Nobel Peace and Pulitzer Prize winning author? That's right. Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is earning $32,000 to head to the New Jersey campus, while Toni Morisson is only getting $30,000 to speak at graduation on May 15th.

Snooki was reportedly paid to speak at the event, but we're not sure actually what she'd have to say. Perhaps she read excepts for her book, "It's a Shore Thing."

The event, however, was reportedly jam-packed with lines out the door, bringing in over 1,000 students to see their favorite "Shore" house member.

A Rutgers spokesman, Steve Manas, defended the school on its use of funds. "We have more than 200 events on our campus during the course of the year, everything from scholarly presentations to entertainment," he said.

"The students canvassed for who they wanted here and had the funds available."

Some students weren't so happy about the news. They felt the $32,000 could have been spent on better "entertainment."
