Steve Coogan Causes Outrage By Poking Fun At Kurt Cobain

February 13, 2009

Steve Coogan has caused outrage by poking fun at the late Kurt Cobain.

The British comic star appeared to reference the former Nirvana frontman - who shot himself in 1994 - when asked about his previous relationship with Kurt's widow Courtney Love.

When "The Late Late Show" host Craig Ferguson mentioned the Hole singer, Steve put two fingers in his mouth and shouted: "If I had a gun now, I would just put it in my mouth."

The talk show host then asked his guest - who dated Courtney for a few weeks in 2005 - about the rumors the singer is now dating "The Wrestler" actor Mickey Rourke.

Steve replied: "You're serious? I'm getting the next flight out of here tonight."

After they split, Courtney and Steve engaged in a bitter war of words when he denied getting her pregnant.

Although the pair are yet to resolve their differences, Steve may be unable to avoid his ex-lover as she recently revealed she is planning to move to the U.K.

Courtney, 44, said: "Buckinghamshire is where I want to go. I read Country Life magazine every week. I'm fed up with Los Angeles. It's full of crazy people."

"People criticize Britain but it's still a cleaner, safer place to live than Hollywood."
