Steve Coogan Terrified Of His Upcoming Stand-Up Tour

August 19, 2008

Steve Coogan is "terrified" of his upcoming stand-up tour.

The "Around the World in 80 Days" star - who also appears in Ben Stiller's new comedy film "Tropic Thunder" - has revealed his fears about returning to his roots with the upcoming British shows.

The series of live performances will be Coogan's first return to the stage in 10 years.

He said: "I'm doing it because I want to, not because I have to. I miss doing it and it scares me. I'm excited by the prospect of doing it - and terrified."

"The good thing about performing live is there's no ambiguity. People either laugh or they don't."

The 42-year-old funnyman - who once dated Hole singer Courtney Love - is also in talks with U.S. network HBO about starring in a new TV show.

He added: "I may be doing something for HBO. Watch this space, you may hear something soon."

Coogan's show "Steve Coogan Is Alan Partridge And Other Less Successful Characters" will tour across the U.K. in October.
