Teen Heartthrob Zac Efron Talks About Anonymity And Normalcy On Cover Of Teen Vogue's Young Hollywood Issue

September 4, 2008

Teen heart-throb Zac Efron may be most teenage girls' dream date, but for this 20-year-old rising star, he still longs to be anonymous sometimes.

Posing on the cover of Teen Vogue's October issue, the "High School Musical" star reveals why it is important to feel normal amidst the fame that's surrounding him right now.

He says, "You don't realize until it's gone, but it is so important to feel normal."

"I'm growing up under a magnifying glass, and I just try to rise above it and live my life."

"I'm not going to complain. But it's something I'm learning to cope with."

And growing up in the industry also means maturing in his chosen craft. Efron, who plays as an adult who transforms into a teen version of himself in the 2009 film "17 Again" alongside Matthew Perry, says he is learning more about the art of acting.

He says, "It was hard to play someone that I couldn't relate to in the slightest. But the director taught me a lot about the art of acting, which I hadn't been schooled in before. I've got a better understanding of what it means to be an actor now."

Efron is Teen Vogue's cover star for its Young Hollywood Issue, out on newsstands on September 9.
