The "Other Woman" In Shania Twain's Breakup Speaks Out

Country singer Shania Twain appears on the cover of the most recent People Magazine, after announcing in May that she and her music producer husband Mutt Lange have split up. The couple were married for 14 years and have a six-year-old son.

The magazine article marks the first time that the "other woman" has spoken up. The alleged other woman is Twain's friend and personal assistant Marie-Anne Thiebaud, who is still denying the affair. When asked directly if she and Twain's husband had an affair, Thiebaud replied, "No."

She also said, "You cannot believe everything you read in the press."

Friends close to the couple say that isn't so, however, and that both Thiebaud and Lange left their spouses to begin their own romantic relationship. The news has sent Twain to seek refuge with her family in Canada.

Lange also denied that the two are dating, saying instead that the breakup was more a matter of growing apart.

Thiebaud began working for Twain and Lange in 2000, when the couple moved to Switzerland. She acted as their personal assistant, secretary and manager of their vast chateau. According to the article in People, she became one of Twain's closest friends.
