For some celebrities one industry is not enough. These entrepreneurial spirits step out of acting and modeling – and into uncharted waters. Here, they sell stripper poles and devise machines that separate oil from water! Read on to discover the crazy offshoot side-businesses some celebs explore!

1. John Malkovich’s Clothing Line – Technobohemian

Technobohemian is a deliciously weird clothing line dreamed up in the kooky head of John Malkovich. He designs everything, and his first collection of beachwear has just made it to New York City.

“It was necessary to update the figure of the bohemian, but not in the traditional way,” states Malkovich.

The offering consists of 17 Italian-made pieces including swim shorts, handkerchiefs, spring jackets and shirts. Wearing his clothing lends to a whole new meaning to the movie ‘Being John Malkovich.’

2: Carmen Electra & Kendra Wilkinson – Stripper Poles

Both Carmen and Kendra went on to sell stripper poles after their careers with Playboy came to an end.

Carmen and Kendra better watch out for Chris Rock, who said: "My only job is to keep her [his daughter] off the pole."

3: Venus Williams – Vstarr Interior Design

Vstarr reflects the championship vision of Venus Williams. On the court she is known for power, grace, and a 128 mph serve! Off the court, her reputation as a stunning interior designer is becoming less and less of a secret.

Her designs are sleek and modern. They utilize open space and natural light.

4. Kathy IrelandKathy Ireland Worldwide

The stunning supermodel Kathy Ireland used the dough she made from her clothing line in Kmart to launch a product licensing business.

Annually, the company hauls in $1.5 billion in 20 countries. Kathy Ireland Worldwide's motto is "Finding solutions for families, especially busy moms."

5. Jessica Alba – The Honest Company

The Honest Company provides families with all-natural, non-toxic baby items in bulk. Products range from baby food to diapers.

Jessica Alba’s company is doing so well that it secured $27 million in financing from General Catalyst, Lightspeed Venture Partners and IVP, according to Business Insider.

6. Elizabeth Hurley – Organic Snacks

Elizabeth Hurley transitioned out of the modeling and acting industries and into a rural life.

Hurley spends most of her time on her 400-acre organic farm in Gloucestershire, England. Her farm produces meat and vegetables and she has just teamed up with Prince Charles’ food company Duchy Originals.

Elizabeth Hurley’s thumb is greener than green as she participates in a lot of the farm labor.

7. Kevin Costner – Oil Spill Clean Up

In the nineties Costner began developing mechanisms that could separate oil from water. He got his devices patented and bought up a company called Ocean Therapy Solutions.

In 2010, after the enormous oil spill, the Government tested six of Costner’s units specializing in oil-water centrifugal separation. They worked well, and BP leased 32 of Costner’s machines to work on cleaning up their ghastly treachery.

And, Costner owns a casino in South Dakota.

8. Akon – Diamond Miner

Akon bought a diamond mine, and sports his ridiculous bling exclusively from what he unearths from his own mine.

He caught a lot of heat for participating in conflict diamonds. Akon blamed Leonardo Dicaprio’s movie ‘Blood Diamond’ for the negative press he received.

And, like a child trying to say anything to escape a scolding, he said:

"That's just a movie. Think about it. Ain't nobody thought about nothing about no conflict diamonds until the movie came out."

9. Rush Limbaugh – Two if by Tea

The famous pontificator, Rush Limbaugh, is now selling a tea drink.

10. Sandra Bullock – Bess Bistro

Sandra Bullock owns Bess Bistro in Austin, Texas. Bullock also recently opened the doors to her new establishment, Walton's Fancy and Staple.

This new business serves as a bakery, deli and flower shop. Bullock states all the recipes in her restaurants ‘stem from old family recipes.’
