Celebrities can afford to take flights into space. They can buy humongous mansions, fast cars and throw marvelously extravagant parties. But, let's take a peek at celebrities who spent some of their dough acquiring a strange pet. Check out these celeb's out of the ordinary animal companions!
1. Paris Hilton - Kinkajou
The Kinkajou is a rainforest mammal that looks like a cross between a squirrel and a lemur. Paris HIlton has one, and she named it Baby Luv.
Paris takes it to parties with her. Paris' late hours work well for the kinkajou as it is a nocturnal animal from the South American Rainforest. On one occasion Paris had to leave a party because Baby Luv bit her.
2. Kristen Stewart - Wolf
Kristen Stewart not only deals with wolves on the silver screen, but she also has one prowling around her house.
"I know he looks kind of scary, he's a wolf. He's really sweet, he, like, falls at my feet," Stewart said in an interview with David Letterman last year.
She named him Jack, and together with her mother they care for their beloved wolf-dog.
3. Leonardo DiCaprio - Tortoise
When Leonardo DiCaprio picked up a pet at the American Reptile Breeders Conference in Anaheim, he chose one that'd grow old with him.
Leo picked a 10-year-old Sulcata tortoise. And, since these suckers live about 80 years, it looks like the two will be spending their golden years together. Perhaps in his older years Leo won't need a wheelchair, he'll just saddle up his tortoise pal.
4. George Clooney - Vietnamese Black Bristled Potbellied Pig
George Clooney was the best of pals with Max, the pig. Sometimes, Max slept in George's bed, all 300 pounds of him. That is like sleeping with a linebacker.
It is also reported that George didn't need an alarm clock for the 18 years of Max's life, as the pig squealed every morning when it wanted to eat. The magical friendship lasted 18 years, until Max died in 2006.
"You get a lot of grief from people when you sleep with a pig. I've had different reactions over the years. But I always say, 'Love me, love my pig.' What can I do?" Clooney said to The Independent.
5. Megan Fox - Potbelly Pig
Megan Fox must admire Mr. George Clooney's irresistible style, as she too owned a pig. She gave him a dynamo name: Piggy Smalls.
According to ShowbizSpy, Fox was quite sad to give up her pig. "It broke my heart because I love that pig. I still miss him but he's very happy where his [sic] is," she said.
6. Vanilla Ice - Kangaroo
Vanilla Ice's pet is kangaroo named Bucky Buckaroo. The kangaroo lives with a female potbellied pig.
"Kangaroos will hump anything. I think the pig likes it. There's also a goat in there who he grew up with but they're just friends," Vanilla Ice told ninemsn.
7. Hugh Hefner - A Whole Zoo
On the premises of Hugh Hefner's mansion is a zoo. A wide variety of critters including mini-monkeys and parrots call the zoo home, getting as many coochie-coochie-cooes from the playboy bunnies as they can handle. Also on the grounds is a pet cemetery.
8. Mike Tyson - Tigers
Mike Tyson, a ridiculous, gruff, yet silly man, owned three tigers. And like him, they behaved unpredictably.
The International Business Times reported that one of Tyson's tigers, Kenya, headbutted him so hard it knocked out a couple teeth. Perhaps this was karma balancing the scales for Tyson chomping off Evander Holyfield's ear.
9. The Late Michael Jackson - Chimp
Michael Jackson, may he rest in peace, used to own a chimp named Bubbles.
Bubbles knew how to paint, and two of his works sold for $1,500 each as part of “Endangered,” a fundraiser in aid of the Center for Great Apes, the sanctuary where he’s lived for eight years, reports the Bloomberg.
10. The Kardashians - Monkey
The Kardashians also jumped on the primate train, grabbing a monkey of their own. Poor thing. |
