Cheryl Cole reportedly out as U.S. 'X Factor' judge

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) - Though Cheryl Cole was sure to be Britain's biggest export since Leona Lewis, it looks like the 27-year-old singer might not take a seat alongside Simon Cowell on the U.S. version of "The X Factor" after all.

Although it hasn't been officially confirmed by Cole's camp, the Girls Aloud member is reportedly homesick and wants to return to the UK. Other reports, however, are suggesting she may have been fired.

"It hasn't worked out," a source told The Sun. "She's had enough. Whether she ends up back on U.K. 'X Factor' is open to speculation."

Cole has already participated in a few of the auditions set to be televised in the fall. Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who was set to host with newcomer Steve Jones, might fill in the judge's seat.

Cole, who's earned two #1 albums in the UK as a solo artist, was a judge on the British version of "The X Factor" with Simon Cowell. Paula Abdul and Antonio "L.A." Reid are on the panel for the new show, airing in September on Fox.
