ABC announces the debut of their ratings-hit series "Grey's Anatomy" on the web. ABC.com streamed the first webisode of the show Thursday, following the airing of the latest episode of the TV medical drama. Directed by Kevin McKidd, who plays Dr. Owen Hunt in the show, "Seattle Grace: Message of Hope" consists of six individual mini episodes, each around 2 to 4 minutes long, as well as the behind-the-scene special "Making of Seattle Grace" episode. The first webisode premiered October 14. Creator Shonda Rhimes said, "The purpose of our new webisodes is to extend the storylines that fans are seeing on 'Grey's' every week. I think there's something really awesome about making 'Grey's' mini-episodes for the web." "We can only get so much content into 42 minutes of television each week - so these webisodes are meant to expand the overall 'Grey's' universe." "Plus, we get to see yet another side of Kevin McKidd's many talents, as he directed most of the webisodes and did a wonderful job." "Seattle Grace: Message of Hope" will see Chief of Surgery Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.) attempting to mount a publicity campaign in order to repair the hospital's image after the shooting events of the show's last season's finale. |
