Helen Mirren, Elton John to make "SNL" hosting debuts in April

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) - "SNL" has scored some major players for their upcoming new April shows, with two Oscar winners making their hosting debut: Elton John and Helen Mirren.

Elton John will perform duties as both host and musical guest on the upcoming April 2nd episode of "SNL." It's not only the first time he's hosted the show, but his first appearance since 1982 as musical guest.

He'll be joined by Leon Russell for the musical performances, where they'll likely perform cuts off last year's collaborative album, "The Union."

Helen Mirren, Oscar winner for "The Queen" and appearing in the upcoming comedy "Arthur" with Russell Brand, will host for the first time on April 9th.

She'll be joined by musical guest Foo Fighters, who make their seventh appearance as musical guest on the show. They'll perform new tracks from their upcoming album "Wasting Light," which hits stores on April 12th.

They join an impressive list of stars who have hosted the show's 36th season, including Jim Carrey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jane Lynch, and Miley Cyrus.
