"Melrose Place" Debuts To Disappointing Ratings

According to the ratings, "Melrose Place" wasn't visited as much as the CW had hoped. The premiere of the 90's hit reboot earned disappointing ratings for the network.

"Melrose Place" earned about 2.3 million viewers, over 2.5 million less viewers than the premiere of the "90210" reboot last year. "90210" also failed to bring in the viewership the show debuted with last year. It also only scored about 2.3 million for the night.

The CW said it scored in the young female demographic only behind CBS' "Big Brother" for the night. It also earned higher ratings than now-cancelled "Privileged."

After the show's soft starts, the real test will be who sticks around next Tuesday. Besides having more pretty faces and loud pop music than an MTV reality show, the show's first season already promises more murder, scandal, and sex than anything else on the network.
