"The Simpsons" are distancing from Bart's Scientology promotion. The producers of the Fox animated show have denied any involvement in voice actor Nancy Cartwright's religion promotion using Bart's voice.

Cartwright, who has been providing Bart Simpson's voice for 20 years, recently sent a voice mail message in which she advertises her Scientology religion and invites the recipients to the church's Flag World Tour event on January 31.

She begins her message with "Yo, what's happening man, this is Bart Simpson. Haha. Just kidding, don't hang up, this is Nancy Cartwright."

Although she has used her yellow-skinned character in the promotion, the rest of the family aren't backing her up.

The show's executive producer Al Jean told eonline.com, "'The Simpsons' does not, and never has, endorsed any religion, philosophy or system of beliefs any more profound than Butterfinger bars."
