Britney Spears In Talks To Be Featured On "Glee"

April 28, 2010 10:56 am CDT

After the success of the "Power of Madonna" episode on Fox's hit "Glee," the show creators are already looking at another pop princess to offer up songs from her pop catalog and even guest star on the show. Britney Spears could be the next pop icon to hit "Glee"…one more time.

After fans took to Twitter with the idea of a Britney episode, creator Ryan Murphy had no choice to respond. He's already in talks with the pop star about the idea.

"We talked about it," said Murphy. "She certainly would love to do it. And I think she's phenomenally talented. And the kids and the cast certainly have a great connection to her. So maybe, yeah. We're going to talk about it."

The episode wouldn't happen until the second season of "Glee" in either the Fall of 2010 or Spring 2011, likely when Spears is ready to release her seventh studio album.

Earlier in the week, Murphy said even more good things about Britney to Entertainment Weekly. "I'm interested in the Britney Spears idea," he says. "I've always loved her. I'm entertaining it. I think young kids would like that."

Young kids would include the cast, like Jenna Ushkowitz who plays Tina on the show. "Britney was my idol when I was growing up," she said. "I have been waiting for a Britney song. I would die."

After the huge success of the first "The Power of Madonna" episode and EP, currently sitting at #1 on the Billboard albums chart, Murphy is also considering a follow-up episode with more songs from Madonna's catalog.
