One of the biggest names in television will have another season's worth of shows in which to horribly offend and alienate the people around him. Premium cable channel announced their plans to renew the Larry David sitcom "Curb Your Enthusiasm" for an eighth season. Production on the season's 10 episodes will pick up during the summer in New York and Los Angeles, and the season is scheduled to debut on HBO in 2011. The announcement was made by Michael Lombardo, president of HBO's programming group and west coast operations. "Larry always loves to paint himself into a corner, and after the incredibly wonderful seventh season of 'Curb,' you have to ask, 'How does he ever top this?' But he always finds a way." Lombardo said in a press release from the network. "We can't wait to see what he does in season eight." David, who first rose to prominence as the co-creator of "Seinfeld," made his announcement in typical joking style. "After much soul searching — and by the way, it was nowhere to be found — I have decided to do another season of 'Curb,'" he said. "I look forward to the end of shooting, when I can once again resume the hunt for my elusive soul. I know it's here somewhere or perhaps in the rugged mountainous regions of Pakistan." In the series, David plays a fictitious version of himself, most notable for his talents in making a spectacle of himself in both his opinions and actions, whether in his personal relationships with celebrities like Ted Danson and Richard Lewis or in his career, having caused calamities for Mel Brooks, Martin Scorsese, Shaquille O'Neal and many more during the show's run. The seventh season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," which is scheduled for DVD release in June, was notable for the reunion of "Seinfeld" stars Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Michael Richards, as well as other actors from "the show about nothing." |
