The day after Halloween usually sees a lot of jack-o'-lanterns that have met with some violence. In that vein, alternative rocker Billy Corgan could not have picked a better marketing strategy for his latest show.

Guitarist and singer Corgan will be headlining the Nov. 1 HDNet Concert Series entry "Smashing Pumpkins-The Fillmore Residency," along with fellow original band member drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. The two founding members of the Smashing Pumpkins are joined by the rest of the group - bassist Ginger Pooley, guitarist Jeff Schroeder and keyboardist Lisa Harriton - for their 2007 residency at San Francisco music venue The Fillmore.

The Smashing Pumpkins originally gained fame in the 1990s for songs such as "Cherub Rock," "Today," "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" and "1979," especially notable for the music videos they inspired. The original band dissolved in 2000, with Corgan and Chamberlin reuniting in 2007, along with new members Schroeder, Pooley - then Ginger Reyes - and Harriton.

"The Fillmore Residency" chronicles a wide range of the band's repertoire, including both new and old material, such as "Blue Skies Bring Tears," "Zeitgeist," "Super Christ," "Starla," "No Surrender" and "The Rose March." The band's time at The Fillmore was also detailed in the documentary "If All Goes Wrong."

Besides the exposure through HDNet, the Smashing Pumpkins have also been featured in entries of the music video game series "Rock Band" and "Guitar Hero."

Since the 2007 concert, which also led up to the release of the album "Zeitgeist," Chamberlin has left the group, replaced by Mike Byrne. On Sept. 16, Corgan announced on the band's Web site that they had begun recording for a new album, "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope," a 44-song concept album, for which he intends to release one song at a time. Corgan also said in the post the band will come out with 11 limited edition EP albums, each featuring four songs and specialized cover art.
