Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) - Helen Mirren is set to host "Saturday Night Live" this weekend and the Academy Award-winning actress says she's terrified. Speaking with Extra at Las Vegas' Cinema Con, where she earned a career achievement award, Mirren revealed that she's nervous about hosting the show for the first time. "I start on Monday. I'm terrified and really excited," Mirren told Extra. "Everybody tells me I'm going to have a blast." Mirren is starring in the new comedy "Arthur," opposite Russell Brand who just hosted last month. She's also following in the footsteps of Elton John, who hosted for the first time over the weekend. Mirren, who's known for her Oscar-winning turn as "The Queen," says she hopes she won't be spoofying royalty. "No, I won't do the queen," Mirren said. "I hope they know that. They probably got 10 skits for me being the queen." With the Royal Wedding later this month, the "SNL" writers probably have to go back to the drawing board. But she didn't turn down the idea of playing an older version of Lindsay Lohan. "That is a good idea," she said. "A little further on in her life." Helen Mirren hosts the upcoming episode of "Saturday Night Live" on April 9th. |
