Janet Jackson could be performing a musical tribute to her late brother, Michael Jackson at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. Janet, in her 20-plus year career, has never performed one of her brother's songs live.

According to TMZ, Jackson has been rehearsing a tribute set to air live at MTV's VMAs on Sunday, September 13th. The number is reportedly part-choreographed by Travis Payne, who worked with Jackson on his "HIStory" World Tour and "This Is It" concerts.

Jackson will reportedly be joined by 20 backup dancers, who have been rehearsing as much as 15 hours a day.

The performance will air during Sunday's ceremony on MTV, which is sure to include various tributes to Jackson. Other stars set to take the stage include Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, and Pink.

Update: MTV confirms that Janet will help in opening the show on Sunday.
