Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) - Jessica Simpson is returning to television. The "Newlyweds" and "Price of Beauty" star is now going to help a group of hopefuls become the next fashion star.

Simpson is set to become the celebrity mentor for the new NBC show "Fashion Star," which sees aspiring designers competing for the chance to win a multi-million dollar contract to become the country's next big brand.

Simpson knows all about that and more, as she now has her own successful line of clothing and accessories, including shoes, handbags, jewelry, and more.

"NBC is delighted to work with singer, designer, actress and pop culture icon Jessica Simpson," said NBC exec Paul Telegdy. "With an almost billion dollar lifestyle brand under her belt she is sure to be an excellent mentor to our up-and-coming designers."

Simpson joins model and mogul Elle Macpherson, who hosts and also serves as the show's executive producer. Macpherson also has her own line of lingerie and skin-care products.

The contestants will be judged by buyers from three of America's biggest retailers, which will carry the winner's collection. Viewers will also be able to purchase the winning designs each week.
