Kathy Griffin is on a promotional tour for her new book in stores now and she's saying she wants it to outsell the Bible as the best-selling book ever. She visited the "Today Show" with hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb and told them why her book, "Official Book Club Selection," is similar to the Bible in an effort to score some book sales.
"I would like this book to outsell the Bible," said the self-proclaimed "authoress." "Let me tell you what this book has that the Bible doesn't: it has plastic surgery photos, which the Bible doesn't... it has some naughty psalms."
Griffin, who earned a four-star review from CNS, reveals that the book also delves into more serious territory for the popular comedian. "I talk about my brother, I talk about my failed marriage, I talk about my botched lipo, and there's funny stories, but there's a little of both, not unlike the Bible."
If Griffin's Biblical approach didn't work, she told the hosts and viewers that the book is titled "Official Book Club Selection" because it's been chosen by Oprah as part of her book club. It hasn't. But Griffin's fans will make the book part of their collection. It's already Top 10 on the Amazon Best Sellers list.
