Melina Kanakaredes Exits "CSI: NY"

Melina Kanakaredes is leaving "CSI: NY." The 43-year-old actress, who plays Detective Stella Bonasera in the hit CBS crime drama, is leaving the show after 6 seasons.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Melina was approached by the network with a new deal, but she declined.

CBS and CBS Studios said in a joint statement: "We hoped Melina would return to 'CSI: NY' for another season, but we respect her decision to move on. Her amazing talent and invaluable contribution to the success of the series are greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten."

"She will forever remain a friend to the network and studio and we wish her the very best."

The feeling seems to be mutual, with Melina adding: "I made some amazing and lifelong friendships during my six seasons on 'CSI: NY,' and I will treasure them forever!"

Actress Selena Ward is said to be being considered as a possible replacement on the upcoming 7th season this fall.
