Nickelodeon's "Victorious" New Show To Premiere Next Year

October 26, 2009 01:12 pm CDT

With hit soundtracks from "iCarly" and "The Naked Brothers Band" before it, Nickelodeon is continuing their winning combo of music and grooming tween megastars. This time former "Zoey 101" and "Spectacular!" star Victoria Justice will star in the new half-hour comedy "Victorious."

"Victorious," a new comedy about the fictional Hollywood Arts High School, is the latest creation from Dan Schneider, the brainchild behind Nick's huge hits "iCarly" and "Drake & Josh." Justice stars as Tori, a singer who joins the ranks of the elite performing arts high school, where she navigates regular high school situations among some of the most talented Hollywood hopefuls.

The show will, of course, feature original music from Victoria Justice and the rest of the cast, which includes Daniella Monet, Leon Thomas, and Avan Jogia. Nickelodeon has already teamed up with record label Columbia/Epic for the show's music releases.

"Dan Schneider continues to have his finger on the pulse of what is funny and relatable to our tween audience," said Executive Vice President for Development and Original Programming at Nickelodeon, Marjorie Cohn. "Add original music and an extraordinarily talented young cast to his comedic sensibility and you have a winning combination."

"Victorious" and its soundtrack are both expected to debut in 2010.
