Parents Television Council slams ABC for airing "sexually explicit" Rihanna and Britney performance

Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN Entertainment) - Rihanna and Britney Spears took the stage Sunday night at the Billboard Music Awards, where they appeared sporting chains and leather outfits, singing their hit "S&M." Now, the Parents Television Council is taking aim at ABC for airing it during a family-friendly hour.

The Parents Television Council have gone after shows like "Glee" and "Family Guy" before and now, their latest target is the Disney-owned network for rating the show suitable for 14-year-olds, although the two stars were performing lyrics like "Sex in the air, I don't care, I love the smell of it/Sticks and stones may break my bones but chains and whips excite me."

Some stripper pole writhing ensued and the pair concluded the song with a pillow fight, but the Parents Television Council claim the show opener was "sexually explicit."

"This kind of content may be appropriate for a striptease show in Las Vegas (where the broadcast originated); but Disney decided it should enter the living room of every family with a TV set, at 8 o'clock Sunday night (only 7 p.m. in the Central/Mountain time zones)," the Parents Television Council wrote.

The group, which often condemns even televised events with foul-mouthed slips, says the performance was no accident. "Disney, ABC, and their advertisers knew EXACTLY what they were getting - yet they chose to put it on the air and sponsor it anyway," they wrote on their website.

The group has targeted Britney just recently, saying her "Glee" tribute episode last year featured "explicit sexual content."
