Season Five Of Dexter Is Underway With New Characters And Plenty Of Suspense

Season five of Dexter premiered on September 26, and it appears this season will be just as thrilling and surprising as the last. With new characters played by Julia Stiles, Jonny Lee Miller ("Hackers") and Shawn Hatosy ("Alpha Dog"), the plot will thicken.

Don't read on if you haven't watched Season four of Dexter yet…

Judging from a trailer that was screened at Comic-Con in July, Dexter appears to be a principal suspect in Rita's murder, struggles to satisfy the Dark Passenger while being a single father, and must also contend with a very bitter Astor.

Stiles will be in 10 episodes this season as Lumen, a new woman in Dexter's life, and Miller will play a man who is mysterious yet intricately involved with Stiles' character. Hatosy will play a "bad guy" in a multi-episode arc.

Other new characters will include an Irish nanny, a troubled Miami Metro officer who gets caught up in an internal affairs investigation, and an aide to a famous businessman. With all these new characters, it's clear the writers have several storylines cooked up for "Dexter" fans.

Now that Dexter (Michael C. Hall) has slowly begun to settle into single fatherhood, he still feels the insatiable pull to satisfy his primal blood thirst as well as track down and find the murdering criminals who have escaped the bounds of justice. Juggling Harrison's midnight feedings, Astor's adolescent angst and a mysterious blood stain on the back of his newly rented U Haul, puts Dexter in a quandary. Will he be able to manage his paternal obligations along with his natural hunting instinct? Stay tuned this season to find out.
