Showtime Extends Life Of "Californication"

The Showtime series "Californication" will continue to share the exploits of the character Hank Moody and his weakness for sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. The show has been picked up for a third season and will resume production next spring on 12 episodes for a late 2009 premiere.

Celebrity News Service has been a fan of David Duchovny, who plays Moody, since his days as Agent Fox Mulder on "The X Files." Despite Duchovny's recent stint in rehab, we are glad to hear that he is back and ready for more "Californication" action.

The actor, who also serves as the show's executive producer, won a Golden Globe Award for his role as Moody.

The series, which was also nominated earlier this year for a Golden Globe Award for "Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy" and won an Emmy Award for "Outstanding Cinematography for a Half-Hour Series," centers around the unique and sophisticated world of Hank Moody, a hedonistic novelist/blogger who struggles to raise his Goth-loving teenaged daughter, played by Madeleine Martin, while still carrying a torch for his disapproving ex-girlfriend Karen, played by Natascha McElhone.

His unapologetic obsession with truth-telling and self-destructive behavior complicates every aspect of his life.
