Television's longest running science fiction series, "Doctor Who" starts its newest season next year, but before that happens BBC AMERICA will be showing a series of specials about the iconic sci-fi series. The first of these shows will be on Saturday, December 19th at 9pm ET/PT.
The special entitled "Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars" is airing on BBC AMERICA on Saturday, December 19th at 9pm ET/PT and stars David Tennant as the man himself accompanied by Lindsay Duncan as Adelaide as they face terror on the Red Planet. "Planet of the Dead" was the first to air last July on BBC America.
The rest of the special episodes will be aired over the holiday season in a two-part special; these episodes will be the last starring David Tennant as the infamous Doctor. The BBC will then release "The Waters of the Dead" the two-part finale on Tuesday, February 2nd on DVD and Blu-ray.
"Doctor Who" has received a total of 67 awards in total and has been running since 1963. The show has also had a hit spin off series "Torchwood," which gets its name from an anagram of Doctor Who, and one for children, "The Sarah Jane Adventures."
