Uncle Of Alleged Victim Says Prince Harry Should Make A Televised Apology For Racist Slur

January 13, 2009

Britain's Prince Harry should make a televised apology for using a racist slur, it has been claimed. The uncle of Ahmed Raza Khan - who Harry was caught on camera calling a "P**I" - insists the 24-year-old prince should make a televised apology for using the "hate word."

Harry - who caused controversy in 2005 when he wore a Nazi uniform to a fancy dress party - has already said sorry for the 2006 remarks, but Ifitkhar Raja claims that is not enough.

He said: "Once Harry dressed as a Nazi and his advisers said it was wrong. That was accepted as a prank. Now he thinks a few words from the palace will put this right, but he has to stop acting like a coward and face the people of this country himself."

"He should go in front of the TV cameras and say that he will never ever use that word again. He needs to show that he understands how hurtful that remark is."

"He is not some low-IQ skinhead from the 70s, he is a member of the royal family, who has had the best education and all those privileges."

The video - which was filmed during the prince's final year of officer training at the Royal Military Academy in Camberley - also shows Harry telling a comrade wearing a camouflage veil, "F**k me, you look like a raghead!"

Ahmed's father Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Abbasi has already condemned Harry for using the word.

He said: "When I saw the video I was very, very hurt. I strongly condemn the disgraceful fact that Prince Harry used that language against my son. That word he used is a hate word, and should never be used against any Pakistani."

Harry - who is now a lieutenant in the Blues and Royals - is now expected to be summoned before army officials to explain his comments.

Recruiting officer Colonel Paul Farrar said: "Clearly what he said is offensive. None of this helps the Army and whatever we do to try to encourage people from diverse backgrounds to join."
