A movie about the power to change the world may have the potential to change the life of some of its fans.

As part of the upcoming home video release of the animated film "9," Universal Studios Home Entertainment will be offering fans the opportunity to win up to 0,000.

Starting Nov. 18, the distributor will be giving away numerous prizes, leading up to the DVD and Blu-ray Hi-Def release of "9" on Dec. 29. Besides the HDTVs, Netbooks and Blu-ray players Universal will be distributing - two apiece to winners, so they can give the other as a gift - the studio will distribute a 0,000 check for one winner. The intent behind the grand prize is for fans to use the money to better the world, whether through charitable donations or using the money to take new opportunities. The promotion syncs up with the central theme of "9."

Released on Sept. 9 (9/9/09), the animated movie features a world where mankind is all but gone. Man's spirit lives on in a group of tiny dolls called stitchpunks, who must navigate their way through a land full of sinister machines that only want to destroy everything in sight. But the youngest of the group, 9 (voice of Elijah Wood), may hold the key to saving the world. The movie also contains the voices of John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and Crispin Glover.

The groundbreaking animation for the film - referred to as "richly imaginative" by Peter Travers of Rolling Stone - is the focus of many special features for the DVD. Among the bonus materials is a look at how director Shane Acker's original Academy Award nominated short, created as a student film at UCLA, expanded to a full-length feature with the help of producers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambatov.

Also available are deleted scenes and the Blu-ray exclusives BD-Live, U-Control and My Scenes Sharing.
