"Ice Age" Ties With "Transformers" At The Weekend Box Office

Dinosaurs and transforming robots have tied at the box office. The newly released Fox 3D animated film "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" has topped the box office weekend with last week's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." Just like "Transformers 2," the third installment to the "Ice Age" franchise also opened on a Wednesday. It has an overall gross of .5 million, though its three-day weekend total is .5 million. "Transformers" also got another .5 million added in its overall gross. It was down 61 percent from its ticket sales last week, but even with a great plunge, it still lords over other films. Johnny Depp and Christian Bale's crime flick "Public Enemies" places third with .2 million during the weekend. Although, like "Ice Age," it also debuted on Wednesday; hence, it already has million overall gross. Another box office tie up is Ben Stiller's "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" and Jack Black and Michael Cera's "Year One" at ninth place with .1 million each.
