"James Bond" Author Ian Fleming's Biopic In The Works
Thu, 29 Jan 2009

"James Bond" creator Ian Fleming's life is the subject of a new biopic project written by screenplay writer John Orloff.

A son of an MP, Fleming was born into a wealthy family. He attended prestigious educational institutions including Eton and Sandhurst before he headed off to study languages around continental Europe.

He was recruited to work as a personal assistant to the head of Naval Intelligence and served throughout WWII in intelligence posts, which gave him the foundation to create the suave British spy afterwards.

He wrote James Bond in 1953, which spawned 13 sequels and movie franchise. He died in 1964.

Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way productions is producing the project, making it a great possibility that he will take on the lead role.

Orloff wrote the screenplay for Marianne Pearl's memoir "A Mighty Heart," as well as episodes of the HBO mini-series "Band of Brothers."
