"Monsters, Inc." Getting The Sequel Treatment?
Mon, 08 Jun 2009
"Monsters, Inc." is reportedly having a sequel. The 2001 Disney/Pixar computer animated flick's original director Pete Docter will return to helm the follow-up to the blockbuster film. JimHillMedia.com reveals that buyers who attended the licensing fair in Las Vegas were told by the Mouse company that Docter is planning a sequel to the film. Since Pixar already announced their hectic schedule for film releases until 2012, a sequel could be in store for 2013, or so online blogs think. Last year, Docter told MTV News that they are indeed thinking of a follow-up, saying "We've thought about it. We've got a couple of ideas," but nothing was heard since. "Monsters, Inc." centers on the number one scarer of Monstropolis' power company, James P. "Sulley" Sullivan, and partner Mike Wazowski. When a toddler accidentally enters their world, the two must hide her from authorities until they find a way to bring her home. The film raked in a massive 5 million at the worldwide box office. It starred John Goodman as the voice of Sulley and Billy Crystal as the voice of Mike.
