"Star Trek" Film Production Nearing Its Completion
Tue, 23 Dec 2008

The newest "Star Trek" is almost finished. Director J.J. Abrams has revealed the film's production is nearing its completion.

Abrams wrote on its official Facebook page: "We're just making final tweaks to the movie - we should be totally locked next week. Then we're going to flash-freeze it so it's totally fresh for you in May. I can't wait for you to see the movie."

The director also assured fans that they will continue to update the page with new information and "exclusive" details.

The new "Star Trek" films feature all new cast playing original characters. Chris Pine will play James T. Kirk, who will be meeting for the first time the half-human, half-Vulcan Spock, played by Zachary Quinto. Leonard Nimoy would reprise his role as the old Spock.

Originally slated for a December 25 release date, Paramount has decided to release the film in May.
