"The Dark Knight" Breaks DVD And Blu-Ray Sales Record
Thu, 11 Dec 2008

"The Dark Knight" has broken Blu-ray and DVD sales records in its first day of release. The "Batman" flick has sold over 600,000 Blue-ray copies and 3 million DVD copies.

As per Deadline Hollywood Daily, the previous record holder for most Blu-ray disc sold was "Iron Man," which sold 250,000 when it premiered on September 30. Over 7 million DVDs of the Christopher Nolan film are expected to sell by the week's end.

Last year, nearly 14 million DVD copies of "Transformers" were sold in just twelve weeks.

Meanwhile, "The Dark Knight" is back in the Oscar race for Original Score. The film was disqualified last month because five composers have been listed on the music cue sheet. However, upon further review, only two, Zimmer and Howard, were responsible for the score's authorship.
