"The Day The Earth Stood Still" To Be Released In Deep Space
Fri, 12 Dec 2008

Earthlings aren't the only ones to slated to watch Keanu Reeves in "The Day the Earth Stood Still." 20th Century Fox will be transmitting the film in deep space on its release date on Friday.

The film studio will make history by making the sci-fi film the world's first galactic motion picture release. The deep space transmission will begin on Friday, coinciding with its Earth opening day, and its target beaming destination is Alpha Centauri, the nearest star system to our planet.

Because of the distance between our solar system and the Alpha Centauri system, it would take over eight years for the other end to receive the transmission.

"The Day the Earth Stood Still" stars Keanu Reeves as an alien messenger in human form, Jennifer Connelly, Will Smith's son Jaden, John Cleese, Jon Hamm, and Kathy Bates.
