"Twilight" Unseats "Quantum Of Solace" In The Box Office With Million Gross
Mon, 24 Nov 2008

The vampires have ended James Bond's box office reign. "Twilight" unseats "Quantum of Solace" from the throne in the weekend box office with a .6 million opening gross.

The fantasy romance film, based on the novel of the same name by author Stephanie Meyer, has to thank its mostly female audience for its success. Exit polls showed 75 percent of the viewers were female and 55 percent of ticket buyers were under 25 years old.

It is now tied with the Disney animated film "The Incredibles" for the fourth best film that opened in November after the three "Harry Potter" flicks.

Meanwhile, computer-animated pic "Bolt," which stars the voices of John Travolta and Miley Cyrus, opened below expectations, grossing an estimated million.

"Quantum of Solace" fell to second place and declined almost 60% from its opening weekend. Although it has grossed just .4 million during the weekend, its worldwide total so far already reached 8 million.

The top-grossing weekend films compiled by Exhibitor Relations:

1. "Twilight" -- .6 million

2. "Quantum of Solace" -- .4 million

3. "Bolt" -- million

4. "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" -- million
