"Wall-E" Honored With The Golden Tomato Award By Rotten Tomatoes
Wed, 14 Jan 2009
Moviegoers are throwing tomatoes at "Wall-E." The trash-collecting robot has been awarded a Golden Tomato by movie review website Rotten Tomatoes, acquiring 96% fresh rating review. The Disney-Pixar animated pic is the freshest among the wide release entries in 2008. "The Dark Knight" is in second place, scoring 94% in the Tomatometer. For the limited release films, the docu-film "Man on Wire" gets a Golden Tomato for earning a perfect score in the T-meter. Second placer "Taxi to the Dark Side" also acquired a perfect 100, while the award-winning Mickey Rourke's pic, "The Wrestler," comes at close third with 98%. If there is a Golden Tomato, there is also a Moldy Tomato, which is given to the worst-reviewed film of the year. "One Missed Call" gets that distinction, earning not a single positive review. RottenTomatoes.com compiles viewers' review of the films, giving each movie a score based on its T-meter "fresh" or "rotten" feedback. Wide Release: 1. "Wall-E" - 96% 2. "The Dark Knight" - 94% 3.
