Actress Gabrielle Union Talks Beyonce and New Movie at Russell Simmons Fashion Show
Sun, 05 Oct 2008

Gabrielle Union, star of films such as "Meet Dave" and "Daddy's Little Girls," was on hand to lend support to Russell Simmons last night as he brought his Argyle Culture collection to Funkshion Fashion Week in Miami Beach, FL.

"Russell's been a friend of mine for years and I was in town and he was like 'You gotta come through!' And it's his birthday also so it's two-fold," she said.

Union was eager to talk about her new movie, "Cadillac Records", the story of the rise and fall of Chess Records and the violence, racial conflict, and the legends that rocked Chicago music world in the 1950's. In the film, Union plays Geneva Wade, girlfriend and later wife of blues legend Muddy Waters.

She also shares the screen with one of the world's biggest stars, Beyonce Knowles. "Beyonce does an amazing job as Etta James. Her album comes out around the same time so it's just a big, big deal for us," she said.

The film also reunites her with Cedric the Entertainer, who she starred with in "The Honeymooners," as Willie Dixon, along with Mos Def as Chuck Berry, and Academy Award-winner Adrian Brody as Leonard Chess.

Union praised all her co-stars in the film. "We have a sick cast," she said.

"Cadillac Records" hits theaters December 5, 2008.
