Amanda Bynes Signs Two-Film Deal With Screen Gems
Wed, 03 Jun 2009

Amanda Bynes has been granted a two-picture pact. The 23-year-old actress, who shot to fame in her Nickelodeon eponymous sketch comedy show "The Amanda Show" in 1999, will be starring in two projects with Screen Gems.

Bynes will first co-star in the comedy "Easy A," which will be directed by Will Gluck.

According to Variety, the film will star "The House Bunny" actress Emma Stone as a high school student who is victimized by a false rumor that she lost her virginity. She then exploits the rumor to work for her own benefit and becomes wildly popular. Bynes will be a puritanical high school queen bee.

Bynes' second project is still being crafted by Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper, who says he has been targeting the former child actress for some time now.

Culpepper told the website, "She's one of the few who can make that graceful transition from kid to adult star because she has such strong comic chops."

Bynes was last seen in the comedy film "Sydney White" in 2007. She will reprise her role as Penny in "Hairspray 2" this 2010.
