Cannes Film Fest Winner "The Class" Is France's Official Entry For Oscars
Fri, 19 Sep 2008

The film that won the year's Palm d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival has been submitted as France's official foreign language film entry to the 2009 Oscars.

"The Class," which is directed by Laurent Cantet, will be competing against other foreign films for the accolade.

France is one of the several countries to announce their official entry to the Academy Awards next year.

It has recently been announced that the left-wing militant drama "The Baader Meinhof Complex" will be Germany's official entry to the Academy Awards.

Other nominees will be announced in January.
