Classic Cartoon "Tom And Jerry" Getting A Big Screen Treatment
Thu, 22 Jan 2009

Warner Bros. is bringing the classic cat-and-mouse chase into the big screen. The film studio would turn the often violent relationship of "Tom and Jerry" into a live action/CG animation feature.

According to Variety, the studio is planning to create its own "Alvin and the Chipmunks" style franchise, which mixes the CG characters in a live-action setting.

Dan Lim will adapt the Hanna-Barbera cartoon as an origin story that will reveal how Tom, the cat, and Jerry, the mouse, first met and form their rivalry before getting lost in Chicago and reluctantly working together to go home.

"Mr. Burnout" scribe Eric Gravning will pen the script. It is not clear whether the two main characters, who did not have talking roles in the show, would finally speak in the film.
