Wed, 03 Jun 2009
"Total Recall" is totally happening. Columbia Pictures has set "The Thomas Crown Affair" scribe Kurt Wimmer to write the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger-starrer sci-fi remake. According to the trades, the film has been resurrected earlier this year by the studio. Producer Neal Moritz and his Original Films banner are heading the project, which will be a contemporized adaptation of the film. The 1990 original film was based on Philip K. Dick's novel "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale." It starred Schwarzenegger as a construction worker who decides to buy a "vacation" on Mars from a company that sells imaginary adventures. It became a box office and critical success, earning over 1 million worldwide. Wimmer has written the action thriller "Salt," which is currently in production with Phillip Noyce at the helm. Angelina Jolie stars.
