Comedy Director Judd Apatow May Helm Slasher Film
Wed, 21 Jan 2009
Judd Apatow might be known for directing box office hit comedies, but all that is about to change. A slasher movie has been written especially for him to direct. Although it is difficult to conceive the filmmaker helming horror slasher films, it might be the next step for him, if "Saturday Night Live" cast Bill Hader and writer Simon Rich got their way. Hader revealed to Chud.com that he and Rich have written a slasher movie, albeit hinted with comedy, for the director. Short of revealing the plot, Hader described the storyline as "definitely about guys nowadays, that idea that you watch f*cked up sh*t on TV, how violence in our culture - this sounds really hoity toity - you watch f*cked up reality shows, I love true crime shows. The idea of that thing coming to your house, and what do you do?... That's basically what the movie is about." In a nutshell, the script is "partially 'Straw Dogs' meets 'Halloween' meets 'Home Alone' meets 'Monster Squad.'" Apatow's film credit includes "Superbad," "Knocked Up," "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," "Pineapple Express," and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" among many others.
