Corey Feldman Visits South Florida, Talks About Upcoming Film Projects
Mon, 03 Nov 2008
Actor Corey Feldman, widely recognized as a child/teen actor from the 80's, visited the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival this past weekend and sat down with Celebrity News Service to discuss his upcoming film projects. Corey Feldman grew up in the limelight at the tender age of three with his first role in a McDonald's commercial. He grew up as a child who enjoyed utilizing his fantasies and well as his imagination. Not until the age of 16 did Feldman really consider himself a true actor, as he acknowledged acting as a serious craft. "I've been fortunate enough and dedication and perseverance goes along way, I don't give up. But a lot of people don't have that drive; it's takes a lot of dedication and a lot of ambition to be able to get through those hard times when nobody's got your back. You have to believe in yourself enough to keep picking yourself up and move forward," exclaims Feldman to CNS. Feldman's current film "Terror Inside," which is being screened at FLFF, is synonymous to "Jacobs Ladder" where government secrets and lies wreak havoc among small town inhabitants when a deadly virus becomes rampant. "It's a science experiment gone wrong and it's all about chemical warfare and that's at the root of it," states Feldman. The role was chosen as it was pleasantly entertaining and the character's identities were evenly split to carry it throughout the film, Feldman explained. The genre of horror never escapes Feldman, as he embodied roles in "Lost Boys," "Gremlins," and "The Goonies." "I've done a hundred films in my life so there's a wide array. There's always been a theme that has kept me in the blessings of the horror community. I've done Ninja Turtles, too so I'm all over the map. I do like the dark and mysterious and things that are intriguing," states Feldman. Respectively, Feldman has four films in post production that include "The Birthday," appearing in London at the Raindance Film Festival, "Lucky Fritz" in Germany and "Hooking Up" still in production. In addition, he boasts a new album, Technology Analogy which is receiving critical acclaim from music reviewers. The band is known as "Truth Movement," which emulates a sound that meets classic rock mixed with today's techno and house. He's also launched his own record label, Scifi Records, for this particular album. Collaborations include John Karen from "Pink Floyd," who co-wrote and co-produced several songs on the album, as well as Mark Karen from the Grateful Dead and Rag Dog, who plays guitar. Scotty Page, the sax player from Pink Floyd, as well as German pop star Ina Kristen also contributed. The first single off the album which reflects environmental issues is called "Green is the Color." "For anybody who wants, you can go to my website at www.coreyfeldman.net and you can hear a free download of the song and also pre-order the album at the website as well", explains Feldman. For Feldman, roles that challenge him as an actor and allow him to pursue characters that are outside of his persona inspire his creativity. A common thread in a lot of the characters that Feldman plays mimic art imitating life in which he identifies with as the anti-hero.
