Director Wants Seth Rogen To Star In "The Gospel According To Jimmy"
Wed, 21 Jan 2009

Seth Rogen is wanted for a new comedy project by "Mirrors" director Alexandre Aja. The comedian is the "obvious choice" to play a cloned version of Jesus in "The Gospel According to Jimmy."

The filmmaker is toying with the idea of adapting the French satirical novel into a film. He is currently looking for a writer as he doesn't have the time to pen it himself.

He explained the plot to scifiwire.com, "You have to imagine, a few years from now, the Republicans want to get back in the White House, and the only thing that they find is like an old cloning project... to clone Jesus from a blood cell on the Shroud of Turin."

"And one subject survived, and he's fixing pools in L.A., named Jimmy. And they're going to find him and ask him to come back and help them to get back to power."

When asked who he has in mind to play the title character, Aja answered, "The obvious choice as a dream cast would be someone like Seth Rogen to play Jimmy."
